| THE GOLD LEAF SERIES THE PAINTED VEIL Bridgman’s current work deals with the sensory and visceral. Drawn from memory and emotion, the new paintings utilize color and movement in oil to tell a story. The second part of a series painted on gold leaf, this group extends beyond realism into symbolic treatment of the senses. TRAVEL PHOTOGRAPHS Over the years Bridgman has traveled extensively to the continents of Europe, Africa, South and Central America, Australia, Indonesia, Arabia, and the Islands of the South Pacific where her work with the camera became a notebook written by a western female traveling alone. Many of the images were taken from the back of a horse, Bridgman's favored form of transportation. OPERA PAINTINGS & DRAWINGS The Opera series is inspired by time spent working as an animal handler backstage at the Metropolitan Opera House. |
